Holly Stewart Earns Corvais ECAC Player of the Week Honors
ORONO, Maine – For the second time this week, junior field hockey midfielder Holly Stewart, has been honored for her strong play in three contests last week, earning Corvais ECAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week accolades. Stewart was recognized along with freshman, Danielle Aviani, in the America East player of the week awards, announced on Monday.
Stewart was the model of consistency for the Black Bears through the three contests as she recorded one goal and one assist in all three matchups. She helped the Black Bears to a 4-2 win over Dartmouth on Tuesday, scored again in the team's 5-1 win against conference foe, Fairfield, on Saturday, and followed it up with a strong effort in the team's overtime loss (3-2) against Yale on Sunday. Stewart is now second on the team in points with 24 (nine goals six assists).
The Black Bears now head down the homestretch of its season with the final three games coming up in the next two weekends. The Black Bears head to Boston, Mass., on Oct. 27 to face California and follow it up against Providence on Oct. 28. Game times are slated for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
