Durham, N.H. – The University of Maine women's ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 draw against New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon at the Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, New Hampshire. Maine moves to 5-22-4 and 2-15-3 in Hockey East while New Hampshire slides to 13-15-4 and 9-8-3 in Hockey East.
Chloe Tinkler (Wabush, Newfoundland) started the scoring early in the first as she registered her second goal of the season at 2:35 of the period. Jennifer More (Deloraine, Manitoba) and Kayla Kaluzny (Calgary, Alberta) both tallied their ninth assists of the season on the even strength scoring play.
Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Michigan) extended the Black Bear lead at 13:18 of the first period, notching her 13th goal of the season. Hailey Browne (Oakville, Ontario) registered her third assist of the season while Kaluzny notched her second of the game.
Maine ended the first period with a 2-0 lead over New Hampshire.
Scoring action saw all Wildcats in the second period, registering two unanswered goals to end the period at a 2-2 tie. Hannah Armstrong notched the first New Hampshire goal just 36 seconds into the period. Alexis Crossley picked up the second goal of the period at 7:04.
The third period went scoreless. Maine registered six shots in the frame while New Hampshire notched 19.
The Wildcats held a slight 7-3 shot advantage over the Black Bears in overtime.
Meghann Treacy (Lake Peekskill, New York) anchored the Black Bears between the pipes, allowing two goals while notching a career high 49 saves. Treacy sees her record move to 0-5-1 on the season.
Jenn Gilligan allowed two goals while saving 25 shots in net for the Wildcats.
New Hampshire held a 51-27 shot advantage over Maine. The Black Bears went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Wildcats went 1 for 4.
Maine returns to action tomorrow afternoon for its final regular season game of the season. They will faceoff against New Hampshire at 2:00 PM.
