Maine Places Highest Percentage of Student-Athletes on America East Fall Academic Honor Roll
A record 634 student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Fall America East Academic Honor Roll. It is the highest number of student-athletes on the fall honor roll since its induction during the 1988-89 year. Student-athletes had to earn grade point averages of 3.0 or higher last semester to receive this recognition. Of those student-athletes, 331 earned Commissioner’s Honor Roll status for completing the fall semester with grade point averages of 3.50 or higher.

Maine Honors Scholar-Athletes for Academic Achievement
he University of Maine announced on Wednesday that 239 student-athletes will be honored and recognized for their success in the classroom at the Scholar-Athlete Recognition ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011. One-hundred seventy four student-athletes will be recognized as Scholar-Athletes for achieving a 3.0 or better grade point average for the 2010 year and/or having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Sixty-five first-year student-athletes will also be honored as *Rising Stars* for earning a 3.0 or better in their first semester at Maine. The Scholar-Athletes and *Rising Stars* total 239, over half of the student-athletes at the University of Maine.

The Black Bears will appear in their first America East Championship Game since 2006 and are seeking their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. UMaine will face regular season champion Boston U. at 1 p.m on Saturday at Nickerson Field in Boston.

With the loss, Maine falls to 6-6 and 2-3 in America East play while Albany picks up the win, moving them to 7-6-2 on the year and 2-1-2 in the America East Standings. ORONO, Maine The Maine women's soccer team (6-5, 2-2) dropped their first home match and only their second contest in seven games 1-0 to New Hampshire (6-6, 2-2). Carole LeBlanc scored the lone goal of the game in the 27th minute. LeBlanc found a rebounded ball off a free kick and drove it home for the game winner.

BRONX, N.Y. - The Maine women's soccer team (1-1) fell to Fordham (2-0) in a 2-0 shutout Tuesday. Senior Michelle Ancelj notched both goals for the Rams, the first coming in the 36th minute and the second in the 82nd minute. Ancelj scored the game-winner off of a deflection from 15 yards out, and the second goal came off of a chip pass from Katie McDermott.

ORONO, Maine The Maine womens soccer team defeated the Burlington Heat 3-0 in their only exhibition contest prior to the 2010 season. The Black Bears kept on the attack and out shot the Heat 13-4. Maine scored all three goals in the second half with two coming in quick succession at the start of the period.

The Black Bears lose only six players from a squad that advanced to the America East semi-finals a year ago.
