2011 Maine Women's Soccer Schedule
ORONO, Maine -- Seven home games, including a rematch of the 2010 America East Championship game against BU, highlight Maine's 2011 women's soccer scheduled released on Monday, June 20. The Black Bears will look to get back to the America East Title game for the second year in a row.
Maine will face Franklin Pierce in an exhibition game on Monday, Aug. 22 in a game that will be played in Southern Maine. The Black Bears kick off the 2011 regular season on Friday, Aug. 26 when they host Charleston Southern at 3 PM.
September begins with a trip to Sacred Heart on Friday, Sept. 2, before returning home to host Iona on Saturday, Sept. 4. Maine then travels to Holy Cross for a match with the Crusaders on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Maine returns home the following weekend to host Rhode Island on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 12 noon. Maine hits the road for a pair of games the following weekend when it travels to Umass on Friday, Sept. 16 and Dartmouth on Sunday, Sept. 18.
The Black Bears swing into America East Conference play on Sunday, Sept. 25 when they host Binghamton at 12 noon. Maine then hosts Boston University in a rematch of the 2010 America East Championship on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 12 noon. The Black Bears travel to Vermont on Thursday, Oct. 6, before retuning home to host UMBC on Sunday, Oct. 9.
The Black Bears play three of their final four games on the road. Maine travels to Hartford on Thursday, Oct. 13 and then goes to Albany on Sunday, Oct. 16. The Black Bears host Stony Brook on Thursday, Oct. 20 in the final home game of the regular season. The Black Bears close out 2011 at New Hampshire on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Maine returns a wealth of players for the 2011 season. Among the returnees are Carolyne Nellis (Quebec City, Quebec) who scored four goals and added a pair of assists last year for 10 points. Courtney Harnais (Braintree, Mass.) finished with three goals for six points a year ago. Maddie Hill (Brampton, Ontario) chipped in with a pair of goals and an assist for five points.
Keeper Meagan Price-Leibenzeder (Surrey, British Columbia) finished 7-8-0 on the season with a 1.33 goals against average and a .744 save percentage.
Lisa Bijman (Brantford, Ontario) earned a spot on the America East All-Rookie Team a year ago, while Kaitlyn MacIsaac (Bedford, Nova Scotia) was named to the 2010 America East All-Tournament Team.
