Second Straight Game-Winner by Harnais Leads Maine Past Rhode Island

ORONO, Maine -- Senior striker Courtney Harnais (Braintree, Mass.) scored her second straight game-winning goal as the University of Maine women's soccer team defeated Rhode Island 1-0 on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Orono, Maine. She was named America East Player of the Game for her efforts. 

Maine improves to 3-1-1 on the season with the victory, while Rhode Island falls to 3-2-1. 

Midway through the first half, Harnais recieved a ball from Jordan Pellerin (Waterville, Maine) at the top of the box. Harnais then fired a shot that went over the head of Rams keeper Reilly Lindsay and just under the cross bar. It was the second goal of the season for Harnais, who scored the game-winner last Tuesday at Holy Cross. 

Meagan Price-Leibenzeder (Surrey, British Columbia) did the rest, making seven saves to pick up the shutout. It was the third shutout of the season for Price-Leibenzeder and second straight. She improves to 3-1-1 on the campaign. 

Lindsay made four saves in goal for the Rams. She falls to 2-1-1 on the season. Ashley Evangelista, who had four shots, was named the America East Player of the Game for Rhode Island. 

Maine returns to action on Friday, Sept. 16 when it travels to UMass for a 4 pm game.
