Storrs, CT – The University of Maine women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Connecticut on Sunday afternoon in Storrs, Connecticut. The black bears fall to 1-2-0 on the season while the Huskies improve to 2-1-0.
Jordan Pellerin (Waterville, Maine) and Nikki Misener (Burlington, Ontario) led the Black Bears each with a pair of shots, Pellerin with the only shot on goal for Maine.
Connecticut took a 1-0 lead at 20:52 when Samantha Mcguire found the back of the net off the Danielle Schulmann assist. The Huskies built to the lead at the 37:57 mark off the foot of Andrea Plucenik, assist from Stephanie Ribeiro. UConn scored the third and final goal of the game at 55:51 with the unassisted goal by Ribeiro.
Maine was anchored in goal by Lauren Swant (Oakville, Ontario) with eight saves and three goals against.
Allison Saucier played significant minutes for the Huskies with one save.
The Black Bears registered eight shots in the contest while the Huskies tallied 22.
The Black Bears return to action on August 31 where they will travel to Orangeburg, South Carolina to take on South Carolina State, game time is slated for 7:30 pm.
