Swant Named America East Rookie of the Week
Cambridge, Mass. – University of Maine freshman Lauren Swant (Oakville, Ontario) was named the America East Rookie of the Week for women's soccer on Tuesday. Swant anchored the Black Bears defense in goal where they posted two shutouts at the Sleep Inn Bulldog Classic this past weekend.
Swant had a total of nine saves with no goals against while playing every minute for the Black Bears in both contests. Seven saves came in a 1-0 overtime win over South Carolina State and a pair of saves in a 1-0 win over Francis Marion. Her record improves to 2-1-0 on the season with a .840 save percentage.
College Sports Madness also named Swant Madness Conference Player of the Week.
The shutouts were the first two of her career.
Maine will host Dartmouth on Friday, September 7th at Alumni Field in Orono, Maine. Game time is slated for 3:00 pm.
