The Black Bears Fall Short to the Big Green

Orono, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team lost a 3-1 battle to Dartmouth this afternoon at Alumni Field. Eve L'Abbe (Laval, Quebec) scored her first career goal as a Black Bear. Maine falls to 3-3-0 on the season.

Dartmouth scored the opening goal of the game at the 11-minute mark off the header by Chrissy Lozier. Corey Delaney crossed from the left side of the field through the box for the assist. Corey Delaney posted her second assist on the day when she passed the ball forward to Emma Brush who found the back of the open net. Emma Brush found the net for the second time today at the 52-minute mark off a between the legs pass from Libby Hamlin.

The lone goal for the Black Bears came at the 64-minute mark off the deep strike by L'Abbe where she found the top of the net.

Lauren Swant started in goal for the Black Bears and played all 90 minutes. Swant allowed three goals against while saving eight shots on goal. She falls to a 2-2 record in her freshman campaign.

Tatiana Saunders started the game for Dartmouth where she would post four saves on the afternoon. Sam Fearer also saw some time in net this afternoon allowing one goal.

Dartmouth held a 16 to 9 shot advantage over Maine.

The Black Bears return to action next Friday, September 14th where they will host Fairfield. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 PM. Maine will then hit the road for a 1:00 PM game against Rhode Island on Sunday, September 16th
