Orono, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with Fairfield on the beautiful day in Orono, Maine. Maine moves to 3-3-1 on the season with the tie, while Fairfield sees its record move to 3-2-2.
Maine was led by Nikki Misener (Burlington, Ontario) who posted four shots, two of which were on goal. Eve L'Abbe (Laval, Quebec) recorded three shots on the day followed by Jordan Pellerin (Waterville, Maine) and Charlene Achille (Longueuil, Quebec) with two shots each.
Nikki Stanton who recorded three shots on the afternoon led Fairfield. Stephanie Sutherby posted two shots, with one of them on goal.
The Black Bears were anchored in goal by freshmen Lauren Swant (Oakville, Ontario) who played all 110 minutes of the game. Swant recorded three saves on the afternoon, her last save coming with 2:45 left in the second overtime.
The Stags had Veronica Saez in net. Saez had nine saves on the afternoon.
Maine held a 17 to 11 edge in shots while also holding the edge in corners with a 9 to 3 advantage.
Maine returns to action this Sunday, September 16 when it travels to Rhode Island for a 1:00 PM game.
