Swant Earns America East Rookie of the Week Honors
Cambridge, Mass. – University of Maine Freshman Lauren Swant (Oakville, Ontario) was named the America East Rookie of the Week for women's soccer on Monday. Swant anchored the Black Bears in net this past weekend, allowing just one goal in 200 minutes of play.
Swant continues her impressive rookie season being named America East Rookie of the week for her second time, her first coming on September 4th.
Swant had a total of six saves on the weekend while playing all 200 minutes for the Black Bears in both contests. Three saves came in a 0-0 tie against Fairfield at Home while the remaining three came in a 2-1 win at Rhode Island. With the weekend results, Swant sees her record improve to 4-2-1 with a .814 save percentage. Lauren has three shutouts on the season thus far with 35 saves and eight goals against.
The Black Bears return to action Sunday, September 23 when they host Vermont for the Black Bears first conference game of the season. Game time is slated for 1:00 PM.
