Black Bears to Host America East Semifinal

Orono, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team clinched the number 2 seed this afternoon after the 2012-13 regular season wrapped up. Maine was the only team not competing Sunday afternoon as much was still left to be decided. The Black Bears finished with a 7-6-3 overall record and a 3-3-2 in America East conference play.

With the second seed, the Black Bears have earned a first round bye of America East playoffs.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to extend our season and to play at home once again," said Coach Atherley. "Our players have worked very hard to be in this position. We talk regularly about how competitive the conference is and how each point is critical. The fact that one point separates the second and sixth seed suggests that anyone can win on any given day. We look forward to the challenge that lies ahead, and expect Sunday's match to be highly competitive regardless of our opponent".

No. 6 Stony Brook at No. 3 New Hampshire, 2 p.m.
