CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- University of Maine women's soccer standout Lisa Bijman (Brantford, Ontario) has been named the America East Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's soccer. Bijman recently completed her senior season for the Black Bears. She is a kinesiology and physical major, pursing minors in pre-med and chemistry, with a 3.96 grade point average.
Bijman was co-captain of the Black Bears her senior season, where she started all 19 games at midfield. She notched a goal in Maine's 1-1 draw with Stony Brook in the America East semifinals. Bijman was named to the America East First Team this season along with being selected to the America East All-Academic Team.
Bijman was named to the 2012 America East All-Tournament team and was an America East All-Rookie selection in 2010. She finished her career playing in 66 games with five goals and three assists for 13 points.
Bijman was equally successful in the classroom. She has been named a Maine Scholar-Athlete award winner and also named to the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Bijman has also been named to the Dean's List at Maine.
