The University of Maine head women's soccer coach Scott Atherley is pleased to announce the signing of eight student-athletes for the 2014 fall season. The incoming class of 2018, hailing from four states and two Canadian Provinces, brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments at the club, high school, and international level.
UMaine soccer's newest members are Abby Maker (Naples, Maine), Emma Lindblad (Russell, Ontario), Kaitlin Saulter (Hermon, Maine), Kendra Ridley (Ottawa, Ontario), Marie-Pier Gougeon (Laval, Quebec), Rachel Preble (Safety Harbor, Fla.), Genaya Loftis (Waterford, CT), and Amy Falkin (Roswell, GA).
"This group is a great compliment to our returning core of experienced players. The addition of these women makes our team as deep as we have ever been. Our training sessions should be quite competitive come August 6".
The 2018 class will join a seasoned group of returners who went 9-5-5 in 2013, finishing 5-2-1 in league play and reaching the semi-finals of the America East Championships.
The Black Bears will kick-off the 2014 campaign at home on August 22, 2014 when they play host to Quinnipiac University.
The eligibility of all student-athlete is contingent upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
