Maine Releases 2014 Women's Soccer Schedule

2014 Maine Women's Soccer Schedule

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine women's soccer coach Scott Atherley announced the team's 2014 schedule today, which features eight games at Alumni Field in Orono. In addition, each home game will have a theme this season.

"The 2014 schedule is competitive and balanced," said Atherley. "To play eight games on home soil will help us better endure the demands of the season. Our non-conference opponents present unique challenges. By the time we begin conference play we should be well tested."

"Additionally, each home game this fall will have a theme. We have worked closely with our marketing department to devise ways to increase fan participation at our games. We will be sponsoring a number of events, contests and promotions to enhance the fan experience. We are looking forward to playing in front of enthusiastic crowds this fall."

Maine kicks off the 2014 season at home on Friday, August 22 when the team hosts Quinnipiac on High School Day. Bryant comes to town on Sunday, Aug. 24 on Club Soccer Day. The Black Bears hit the road for games at Fairfield on Aug. 29 and Fordham on Aug. 31.

The Black Bears play their fourth straight road game at Stony Brook on Oct. 2. Maine then returns home to play three of its next four games in Orono. The Black Bears host UNH on Oct. 5 and then Vermont for a Pink Game on Oct. 9.
