Burnham, Hall Named to All-Academic Team
Kali Burnham (Courtice, Ontario) and Terren Hall (Bucksport, Maine) have both been named unanimous selections to the 2011 America East Softball All-Academic team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Burnham, Hall, McLain Named to All-Conference Teams
Terren Hall (Bucksport, Maine), Kali Burnham (Courtice, Ontario) and Meghan McLain (Orrington, Maine) have been named to their respected All-Conference teams as announced by the America East Conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Hall and Burnham were both named to the First Team while McLain was honored to the Second Team and the All-Rookie squad.

Softball Falls in Season Finale to Hartford, 2-0
The University of Maine softball team's push for the post-season fell short on Sunday afternoon as it dropped a 2-0 decision to Hartford on senior day for the Black Bears' four seniors in the season finale. Maine finishes the season at 18-31 overall and 7-10 in conference play, just a game short of making the America East Tournament. Terren Hall (Bucksport, Maine) and Kali Burnham (Courtice, Ontario) each recorded a hit in their final game with the Black Bears.

Softball Falls in Game Two Against Hartford, 8-6
The University of Maine softball team was unable to complete the doubleheader sweep on Saturday afternoon as the Hartford Hawks picked up the 8-6 victory in game two. The loss slips Maine back 18-27 overall and 7-9 in America East play while the Hawks move to 8-34 and 3-14 in conference play. Jennifer Eberhardt (Glendale, Ariz.) went 2-for-2 with two rbis and two runs scored for Maine while Hilary Kane (Concord, N.H.) was 2-for-4 with two rbis and a run scored.

Hall, Eberhardt Blast Maine By Hartford in Game One, 6-5
Terren Hall (Bucksport, Maine) and Jennifer Eberhardt (Glendale, Ariz.) each blasted home runs as the University of Maine softball team defeated Hartford 6-5 in game one on Saturday afternoon. The win moves Maine to 18-26 overall and 7-8 in America East play while the Hawks fall to 7-34 and 2-14 in league play. Hall had a huge game one for Maine as the senior kicked off senior weekend with a 2-for-3 day with four RBIs and two runs scored.

The pairing of a shut out by Kylie Sparks (Kirkland, Wash.) and a 14-hit attack by the Black Bear offense proved to be too much for St. Joseph's to handle as the University of Maine softball team picked up a 8-0 victory over the Monks at Bailey Field. The win moves Maine to 17-27 overall while St. Joe's falls to 29-8 in their final regular season game of the year. Jenny MacDowell's (Littleton, Mass.) RBI single in the bottom of the seventh would tie things up for the Black Bears, sending the game into extra frames. However, the Great Danes would plate five runs in the top of the eighth and hang on to the 12-7 victory over Maine. The Black Bears take the loss and fall to 16-24 and 6-5 in America East play while Albany improves to 16-18 and 7-1 in conference play.

Black Bears Blast 15 Hits, Defeat Husson 10-2
The bats came alive once again for the University of Maine softball team as it blasted out 15 hits on its way to defeating Husson University by a score of 10-2 in a run-ruled six inning contest. Meghan McLain (Orrington, Maine) and Kirstin Allen (Doylestown, Pa.) each homered for the 16-22 Black Bears. Allen's three run shot in the bottom of the sixth put the game away for Maine. Shortstop Jennifer Eberhardt (Glendale, Ariz.) continues her hot streak as she has now hit in Maine's last six games after going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored against the Eagles. Husson falls to 9-11 overall with the loss.

Softball Alumni Weekend Events Set
Join the 2011 University of Maine Softball Team as they celebrate their alums on Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th at Kessock Field. The Black Bears will kick off Saturday with an Alumni Game at 9:30 am. Alums will be selected to throw out the first pitch in each of the games on Saturday and Sunday against the University at Albany and all alums in attendance will be recognized throughout the games. Game one of the Albany series starts at 1 pm on Saturday, April 16th and will be followed up with a second game at about 3:30 pm. Gametime on Sunday, April 17th is 11 am.

The University of Maine softball team, along with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, would like to invite area youth in grades K-8 to a day packed full of fun activities on Saturday, April 9th. The 2011 University of Maine softball team has been selected by the league’s coaches to finish fifth in America East this season, as announced by the conference Monday, Feb. 14. Maine received 21 votes in the poll, just four points behind second place Albany. The Black Bears are coming off a second place finish a year ago in which they finished 23-28 and 11-7 in America East play.

The University of Maine softball team has announced three new signings that will join the team in the fall of 2011. Jessica Burk (Warrenton, Va.), Nicole Byron (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Emily ‘EmJ’ Fogel (Falls Church, Va.) will step in and compete for time on the field for the Black Bears.

Annual Black Bear Softball Breakfast to Take Place Feb. 10
It's that time of the year again, time to reserve your table or chair for Softball's annual Black Bear Breakfast on Thursday, February 10 from 7:30-9:00 am. We've had a great turn out in previous years and expect this year will be no different. If you've never attended the breakfast, this is the year to start! It's a lot of fun; you can take part in trivia, raffles, all while enjoying the tasty breakfast buffet.

Softball to Host Winter Clinics in January and February
ORONO, Maine – The Maine softball team will host its 2011 Winter Clinics on multiple Sundays in January and February. The clinics start January 16th and will run each Sunday through February 13th.

Softball to Host Alumni Game During Homecoming
ORONO, Maine - The Maine softball team will host an alumni softball game on Saturday, October, 16th at 9:30 a.m. Softball would like to invite all former players back to Kessock Field on Homecoming Weekend. They will also be hosting a tailgate BBQ at 11 a.m. before the football team takes on Villanova at noon.
