ORONO, Maine -- College Sports Madness has named softball sophomore Jean Stevens (Albany, Ore.) its Player of the Week for her exceptional performance in Maine's opening weekend at South Florida.
Stevens went 6-for-12 over the weekend with a double and two home runs while driving in a pair. Stevens also drew three walks and scored a pair of runs in her award winning week. The sophomore opened up the season with a bang as she homered twice in Maine's season opener against Illinois State. Stevens had a pair of singles against USF before doubling in her first at-bat against now #1 Florida.
Every week, College Sports Madness recognizes the highest impact players nationally and from each conference in their weekly feature.
The Black Bears return to action on Monday, Feb. 27 at 12 p.m. PST when they travel to Fullerton, Calif. to meet up with Oregon State for a doubleheader.
