Softball Falls in Game One to Oregon St., 4-0

FULLERTON, Calif. -- The University of Maine softball team fell in game one of a doubleheader with Oregon St by a score of 4-0. The loss slips Maine back to 1-5 while the Beavers improve to 12-4. Kristen Koslosky (Castro Valley, Calif.) paced Maine's offense as she went 2-for-3.

The Black Bears best chance in the game came in the top of the first inning. Koslosky started the game with a leadoff single and advanced to second on a bunt single by EmJ Fogel (Vienna, Va.). After two outs, Maine loaded the bases on a walk by Jennifer Eberhardt (Glendale, Ariz.). However, the Beavers ended the Maine threat with a strike out.

Oregon St jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Elizabeth Santana drove in Hannah Bouska with an RBI triple before Santana scored on a double from Erin Guzy.

The Beavers added two more in the bottom of the third. Bouska reached on a bunt single, scoring Dani Gilmore, before Bouska came all the way around to score on an error.

Maine was unable to get anything going the rest of the way, dropping the contest 4-0.

Ashley Kelley (Hermon, Maine) picks up the loss for Maine as she went six innings while giving up four runs, all earned, on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

Maine returns to action in game two of the doubleheader with Oregon St later today.
