Maine jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Fogel led off the inning with a single up the middle before advancing to second on a bunt single from Hill. Stephanie Wood's (Florence, N.J.) one out single back up the box scored Fogel from second and advanced Hill to third. A walk from Makaila Kowalsky (Colchester, Conn.) loaded the bases with a walk before Jessica Burk's (Warrenton, Va.) single into left plated Hill.
The Bobcats tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third before taking a 6-2 lead with four runs in the home half of the fourth.
Down by four entering the top of the seventh the Maine offense went to work. Hilary Kane (Concord, N.H.) started the rally by working a one out walk and advanced to second on a single into center from Jean Stevens (Albany, Ore.). Nikki Byron (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) grounded out to third which brought Fogel in from third and moved Hill to second. However, the Bobcats escaped the jam by getting the next out to end the game and take the win, 6-5.
