ORONO, Maine -- A pair of University of Maine softball standouts have been named to the College Sports Madness America East preseason all-conference teams. EmJ Fogel (Vienna, Va.) was named to the first team while Jean Stevens (Albany, Ore.) was honored to the second team.
Fogel, an America East All-Conference first team and College Sports Madness All-Conference second team selection a year ago, led Maine in batting last season with a .305 clip to go along with a team-high 50 hits, seven doubles, 15 runs scored and 10 RBI.
Stevens, who was named to the America East All-Conference first team and College Sports Madness second team in 2013, led the league in both home runs (13) and tied for the league lead in RBI (38). Stevens hit .258 on the season with five doubles while totaling team-highs in both runs scored (19) and slugging percentage (.602).
Maine opens the 2014 season Friday, Feb. 14 against St. Bonaventure at 9 AM.
