CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Hannah Hill (Fryeburg, Maine) picked up the complete game win after allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven to help lead the University of Maine softball team (4-5) past Seton Hall by a score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman shortstop Felicia Lennon (Brookfield, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and two stolen bases to pace the offense while EmJ Fogel (Vienna, Va.) drove in a pair of runs in the win.
Seton Hall was able to jump out to a one run lead after plating a run in the bottom of the second on a RBI single from Alex Rabbetts.
Maine knotted the score at 1-1 in the top of the third as Lennon began the inning by working a walk. Lennon stole second to move into scoring position before Dagmar Ralphs' (O'Fallon, Ill.) single plated Lennon.
Maine grabbed the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. With two away in the inning, Kristen Koslosky (Castro Valley, Calif.) began the rally with a walk before advancing to third on a single from Lennon. Fogel followed with a pinch-hit single which brought around Koslosky and Lennon with the go ahead runs.
Hill and the Maine defense shut Seton Hall down before the Black Bears added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Three-straight singles from the Black Bears helped score the run as Jessica Burk's (Warrenton, Va.) single brought in Ralphs for Maine's fourth run of the day as it would take a 4-1 win.
Hill moves to 2-0 on the year in the circle after going seven innings while giving up just one run on three hits with seven strikeouts.
Maine returns to the diamond on Monday when it faces Cleveland State in a makeup game at noon.
