Softball Falls to Buffalo in Florida Trip Finale

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The University of Maine softball team (8-8) wrapped up its spring Florida trip with a 2-0 loss to Buffalo (12-9) on Sunday morning. Shelby Obert (Skowhegan, Maine) led the Maine offense with a pair of hits while EmJ Fogel (Vienna, Va.) added a double and a stolen base.

Sammi Gallardo began the Bulls scoring with a leadoff solo home run in the top of the second inning.

Buffalo added a run in the top of the fifth inning when Alexis Curtiss scored from third on a wild pitch, giving the Bulls a 2-0 lead it would not lose.

Erin Bogdanovich (South Portland, Maine) took the loss for Maine after going 4.1 innings while giving up two runs on four hits with one strikeout. Hannah Hill (Fryeburg, Maine) tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless, no-hit ball with four strikeouts.

Maine opens America East action on Saturday, March 22 when it travels to take on Hartford in a three-game set. Maine and Hartford meet in a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday before closing out the series on Sunday, March 23 at 12 PM.
