ORONO, Maine -- Due to unplayable field conditions and winter weather in Orono, the Black Bears' softball team has been forced to delay its home opener and will instead travel to UMass Lowell this weekend for a three-game set beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
The series, originally scheduled to be played at Kessock Field in Orono, will shift to UMass Lowell where the Black Bears will meet America East newcomer UMass Lowell. The two teams will start the series in doubleheader action beginning on Saturday, March 29 at noon before wrapping up the series on Sunday, March 30 with a 12 PM start.
Maine is coming off a weekend series in which it took two out of three at Hartford. The Black Bears (10-9 overall) will look to improve on their 2-1 league mark.
