Swimming Announces Captains for 08-09

Orono, ME - The University of Maine's swimming and diving team announced their captains for 2008-2009 and their end of season awards for the 2007-2008 season.

Megan Barrett, John Quinn, and Colleen Miller will take charge for the Black Bears next season. Barrett (Farmington, Conn) will captain the diving teams for Maine, while Miller (Missoula, Mont) and Quinn (Bangor, Maine) will lead the swimming teams.

Miller and Jeremy Bender were named Most Valuable Swimmers, while Keith Burgie took home the Miller Diving Award.

Nissa Marione and Zach Cravens were the Switzer Dedication Awards recipients. Ryan Wonsor and Sam Bond were named the Most Improved Swimmers for the 07-08 campaign.

To recognize their outstanding academic performances, Mackenzie Grobmyer and Kyle Thornton were given the Palmer Plaque for Academic Excellence.

Rounding out the award winners were Brian Smith, who earned the Chandler Comeback award, and Candace Coville, who was given the Senior Service Award.
