Women's Swimming Closes Out Regular Season at New Hampshire
ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's swimming and diving team closed out the regular season at New Hampshire on Friday evening where the Black Bears dropped the meet to the Wildcats 193-100.
Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) picked up a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.71) and was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.89). Lauren Dwyer (Orono, Maine) also picked up an individual win, touching the wall first in the 200-yard IM at 2:12.36, while taking third in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:55.30.
Carmen Linden (Ottawa, Ontario) placed second in both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:45.53) and the 200-yard IM (2:18.73). Shannon Bender (Cumberland, R.I.) placed third in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.26) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.87). Jenn Trodden (Reading, Mass.) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.18 and finished third 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.34.
Emily Buczkowski (Woolwich, Maine) finished fourth in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.27) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.26). Abby Linn (Elkhart, Ind.) also had a pair of fourth place finishes, placing fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.87) and in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.65). Taylor Sharp (Burlington, Ontario) finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:22.15 and was fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.53.
Kara Capossela (Greenwich, Conn.) placed second in both the one-meter dive (249.35) and the three-meter dive (262.72).
In the relay events, Harvey, Trodden, Sharp and Buczkowski teamed up to win the 200-yard freestyle at 1:40.62. Buczkowski, Linn, Courtney Mellish (Barrie, Ontario) and Trodden combined to finish third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.49.
The Black Bears return to action on Thursday, Feb. 14 when both teams host the 2013 America East Championships at Wallace Pool.
