Conner and Fereshetian Lead Women's Track on Final Day of America East Championships
ORONO, Maine – Corey Conner (Townsend, Mass.) won her second championship of the meet and Allison Fereshetian (Turner, Maine) had two top-6 finishes to lead the University of Maine women's track and field team on the final day of the America East Indoor Championships hosted by the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. The Black Bears placed sixth with 64.50 points.
Conner won the 3,000 meters with an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:26.30 which is a top-3 school mark for Conner who is already the school-record holder in the event.
Fereshetian took second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.85, a top-3 school mark and was on the sixth place 4X400 relay team with Mary Fagan (Camden, Maine), Shannon O'Neil (Milan, N.H.) and Lauren Roush (Hinsdale, Ill.) that had a time of 3:58.95. O'Neil also placed sixth in the 400 with a time of 58.53, a top-10 school mark.
Rachel Wilkinson (South Portland, Maine) placed eighth in the mile with a time of 5:17.19 while Mary Scanlan (Pembroke, Mass.) was fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:15.26, a top-10 school time. Scanlan was also on the 4X800 relay team with Ashton Weiler (Rockaway, N.J.), Taylor Cunningham (Beverly, Mass.) and Ariel McNett (Topsham, Maine) that placed seventh in a time of 9:54.98.
Albany won the championship with 233.50 points followed by UMBC with 131 points. Binghamton was third with 124.50 points with Vermont (91) and New Hampshire (76.50) rounding out the top-5.
