Women's Track Finishes Competition at New England Championships

ORONO, Maine – Mary Scanlan (Pembroke, Mass.) and Ashten Hackett (Auburn, Maine) competed on day two of the New England Championships hosted by Boston University for the University of Maine women's track and field team.

 

Scanlan took eighth in the 800 meter final with a time of 2:27.83 while Ashten Hackett was 11th in the 60-meter hurdle semi-finals with a time of 9.17.

 

On day one, Robyn McFetters (Barrington, R.I.) took fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 53-01.75, a top-5 school mark that qualifies for the ECAC Championships.

 

Jaclyn Masters (Auburn, Maine) took ninth in the pole vault with 11-01.75, a top-5 school mark, while Angelica Nelligan-Smith (Glenburn, Maine) was 16th with a top-10 school mark of 10-08.00.

 

Carolyn Stocker (Westfield, Mass.) was sixth in the 5,000 with a time of 17:23.24, a top-5 school time while Allison Fereshetian (Turner, Maine) took sixth in the pentathlon with 3,319 points.

 

Shannon O'Neil (Milan, N.H.) was 27th in the 400 with a time of 58.66 and was followed in 32nd by Mary Fagan (Camden, Maine) with a time of 59.94.

 

Scanlan was eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:14.32 and qualified for finals while Ashton Weiler (Rockaway, N.J.) was 12th in the 1,000 with a time of 2:59.64.

 

Hackett took 16th in the 60-meter hurdle prelims to advance to the finals with a time of 9.16.

 

The Maine women finished 18th out of 36 teams.
