PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Jessica McCarthy, who embarked in the final heptathlon of her Maine career on Friday, completed the seven-event competition on Saturday afternoon at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. The senior multi-event athlete came in eighth overall with 4,746 points.
McCarthy left off with 2,783 points after her first four events and looked to make her way up the standings in the final three.
She finished the long jump with a final mark of 5.18m and a ninth-place finish. She secured 609 event points for her cause.
She then took to the javelin as she tallied a final distance of 33.97m (111-05) and 552 event points with a seventh place finish.
McCarthy concluded the competition in the 800m run with a time of 2:21.56 and came in sixth place, scoring 802 points, the highest point total she registered in the event.
She took eighth overall in the heptathlon while Saija Bikanova from Connecticut took top honors in the event scoring 5352 points.
