Corey Conner Finishes 42nd at NCAA Cross Country Championships
TERRE HAUTE, Ind.--University of Maine women's cross country standout Corey Conner placed 42nd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships hosted by Indiana State on Monday afternoon.
Conner, a junior from Townsend, Mass., finished the 6,000 meter race in a time of 20:54 to finish 42nd out of 253 elite runners. She improved upon her first NCAA Championships last year by 41 places.
Conner is the reigning 2010 New England Cross Country Champion after claiming the title at the America East Cross Country Championships in 2009. She qualified for this year's NCAA Championships by placing an impressive fourth at the NCAA Northeast Regional.
A nursing major, Conner has won multiple America East Indoor and Outdoor Track championships, and helped lead the 2009 cross country team and 2010 outdoor track teams to runner-up finishes at their respective championship meets.
