Wilkinson and Stocker Lead Women's Cross Country at America East Championships
VESTAL, N.Y. --- The University of Maine women's cross country team finished eighth at the 2013 America East Championships on Saturday morning in Binghamton, N.Y. Rachel Wilkinson (South Portland, Maine) led the Black Bears.
New Hampshire won the 2013 America East women's championship with a total of just 46 points. The Wildcats were followed by Stony Brook (63), Vermont (77), Albany (82), UMBC (155), Hartford (161), UMass Lowell (193), Maine (194) and Binghamton (214).
Wilkinson placed 24th with a time of 19:02.98 on the 5k course. She was followed by junior Carolyn Stocker (Westfield, Mass.) who covered the course in 19:13.40 to place 29th. Monique Boutin (York, Maine) scored 45th with a time of 20:01.20, while Naomi Holzhauer (Rockland, Maine) scored 47th with a time of 20:02.41. Shannon O'Neil (Milan, N.H.) rounded on the scoring for the Black Bears as she scored 49th with a time of 20:07.08.
Ariel McNett (Topsham, Maine), Ashton Weiler (Rockaway, N.J.), Lauren Conner (West Townsend, Mass.) and Mary Scanlan (Pembroke, Mass.) also competed in the championships, but did not figure into the scoring. NcNett finished in 20:34.12, Weiler in 20:45.24, onner in 21:02.22 and Scanlan in 21:07.90.
