ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine softball team fell to UMass Lowell, 8-4, on Sunday afternoon at the Pierre & Catherine Labat Softball Complex.

How it Happened
  • The Black Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning … Neve Adams drove in Francesca Guerrera, who had led off with a walk … then, Eviana Robles drove a three-run home run over the left field wall.
  • The River Hawks cut into the deficit with a two-run single in the fourth.
  • Neither Maine or UMass Lowell scored in the fifth or sixth frames but then the visitors exploded for six runs in the seventh with a pair of singles, a sacrifice fly and a triple.
  • The Black Bears couldn't push anything across in the home half of the seventh, with UML earning the 8-4 comeback win.
Game Notes
  • Hannah Hipwell started in the circle, throwing 6.0 innings while allowing six hits and four runs … Alysen Rieth threw 1.0 innings of relief, giving up four runs – two earned – on four hits.
  • Neve Adams led Maine with a 2-for-3 day at the plate while also adding one RBI and one run scored.
  • Eviana Robles had three RBI on her home run.
