MORAGA, Calif. -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by Dartmouth College, 1-0, in the first game of the day before being defeated by Saint Mary's College, 2-0.

Game One: University of Maine 0, Dartmouth College 1

The game was a scoreless tie until the bottom of the eighth inning. A sacrifice fly was all that was needed from the Big Green.

Notes:

Alexandra Gruitch went 7.1 innings and did not allow an earned run. The sophomore struck out one and only allowed four hits.
Grace McGouldrick, Anna Margetis, Madison Hand, Immy Gie, and Maggie Helms all finished the game with one hit.

Game Two: University of Maine 0, Saint Mary's College 2

The first run was scored in the bottom of the fifth inning. The run was scored on a wild pitch after the runner advanced on a pass ball and a sacrifice bunt. Saint Mary's second run was scored via the double.

They were the only runs of the day as Maine fell, 2-0.

Notes:

Alysen Rieth and Caitlyn Fallon both appeared in the California finale. They combined to strike out one and allowed two earned.
Grace McGouldrick and Jasmine Gray recorded the hits.

Next: The Black Bears are scheduled to return to the diamond Saturday, March 25 at Binghamton. First pitch in Binghamton, New York is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
