No. 13 Football Hosts UMass on Senior Day
ORONO, Maine -- The No. 13 University of Maine football team hosts longtime rival Massachusetts on Senior Day for the the Black Bears.
Storylines
The University of Maine football team (7-2, 5-1 CAA), looks to stay in the race for the CAA title as the Black Bears take on rival UMass (5-4) on Senior Day .
Maine is coming off a 40-30 loss to Towson on Saturday.
LB Vinson Givans made 14 tackles while WR Damarr Aultman set career-highs with eight catches for 117 yards and a score.
UMass is coming off a 35-17 loss to Villanova.
WR Julian Talley caught 11 passes for 155 yards and a score while RB Jonathan Hernandez rushed 20 times for 99 yards.
Last season in Amherst, the Minutemen defeated the Black Bears 39-24.
RB Pushaun Brown led Maine last season with 141 yards rushing and a score while WR Derek Session caught seven passes for 70 yards against UMass.
The Minutemen are led by outstanding RB Jonathan Hernandez and a pair of excellent linebackers in Tyler Holmes and Perry McIntyre.
Maine's 16 seniors will be honored before the game for their efforts during their tenure as Black Bears.
QB Warren Smith has already thrown for the ninth-most yards in a season and is now fourth on the all-time passing list at Maine with 7,162 yards.
Brown has now rushed for 1,839 career yards and ranks 11th on the all-time list at Maine; his 4.9 yards per carry are the most since Jared Turcotte's 6.0 ypc in 2008.
The Black Bears are in need of a win to boost the possibility of making the NCAA Playoffs for the second time in four years as well as keeping pace for a chance at the CAA Championship.
