Black Bear Football Finishes 2012 Recruiting Class!
ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine football head coach Jack Cosgrove is pleased to announce his 2012 National Letter of Intent Signees.
"After an exciting 2011 Fall season, we are very pleased to announce the commitment and signing of our 2012 'Black Bear' Football Recruiting Class," said Cosgrove. "These gifted and talented young men will add to the quality and depth of our current Black Bears Football team!
It is important to recognize the tremendous effort of our coaching staff throughout this process. They identified, evaluated and pursued a very skilled group of student-athletes! In addition, our current team members were great hosts and representatives of our program! We would also like to note and thank all of the administrators, faculty and staff from our athletic department and campus community who assisted us in promoting our program. Their effort on our behalf was a major reason for our success!"

Led team to the 2008 Maine Class 'C' State Championship and a pair of Eastern Maine runner-up finishes...Named First Team All-Conference three times and as a finalist for the Gaziano Defensive Lineman of the Year Award.
***Davonte Burke - DB - 6-1 -190 - Galesville, Md. - Fork Union Military Acad.***
Named First Team All-County and All-Met at Southern High School...Scored a county-high 28 touchdowns while rushing for 1,362 yards...Played last season for traditional power Fork Union Military Academy.
***Javar Coleman - CB - 5-9 - 180 - Brockton, Mass. - New Hampton***
Played for head coach Ed Kiley at New Hampton...Named to the All-New England and All-Evergreen teams...Led team to a spot in the Jack Etter Bowl...Also played basketball and ran track.
***Daniel Collins - QB - 6-3 - 195 - Williamstown, N.J. - Williamstown High School***
Captain for coach Frank Fucetola at Williamstown...Led team to the 2011 West Jersey Football League American Division Championship and a pair of South Jersey Group IV Playoff appearances...Named to the All-West Jersey Football League First Team...An Honor Roll Student.

Played for coach Dwayne Thomas at Red Lion Christian Academy in Delaware and Jim Mick at St. Peter Catholic High School...Kicked a 52-yard field goal while at Red Lion...Led St. Peter's to a City Championship...Graded a two-star recruit by ESPN...An Honors student.

Two-year starter for coach Craig Moropoulos at Santa Barbara City College...Made 75 tackles, including 10 sacks and 8.0 tackles-for-loss...Also ran track at Desert Vista High School.

Played for coach Efrain Martinez at LA Pierce College...Led team to a conference, division and bowl championship...Named First Team All-Conference...Notched 55 tackles, including 13 tackles-for-loss and led team with 8.5 sacks.
