WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- University of Maine men's ice hockey goaltender Martin Ouellette (St.-Hippolyte, Quebec) was named the co-recipient of the Army ROTC Three Stars Award, announced on Wednesday, March 20 by Hockey East. The shares the award with New Hampshire's John Henrion.
Near the conclusion of each game, members of the media will vote on their three stars of the game. The votes are tabulated and the three stars are awarded. Ouellette was selected as one of the three stars on 11 different occasions. He was tabbed as the game's first star on Nov. 10, 2012 at UMass Lowell and on Feb. 22, 2013 at UMass. He earned the second star on six different occasions, including in each of Maine's wins at then third-ranked Boston College. Ouellette finished as the third star of the three times.
Ouellette backstopped Maine to a record of 11-19-8 on the season. He finished 9-12-8 on the campaign with a 2.42 goals against average and a .917 save percentage. His .917 save percentage ranks as the seventh best in a single season in Maine history. Ouellette recorded a pair of shutouts.
He was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 28, 2013. In addition, Ouellette was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for January.
